Everything statutory

Built around how Jamaica actually files.

Not a foreign tool bent to fit. Brawta does the statutory maths and fills the real TAJ paperwork — so payroll stops being a monthly headache.

Never sweat the statutory maths

PAYE (periodic or cumulative), NIS, NHT, Education Tax and HEART — calculated to the current thresholds and rates, every pay run.

TAJ forms, done in clicks

Your S01, S02 and P45 returns populated straight onto the real government PDFs — plus upload-ready files and the S02 e-file.

Your salaries stay private

Everything lives on your own computer — no third party can read your staff’s salaries. The optional off-site cloud backup is encrypted on your machine first, so only you hold the key. Automatic daily backups, one-click restore, and a full audit trail of every change.

Grow your team, not your bill

One clear price in JMD. No per-employee surcharges, no surprise USD billing. You grow your team without growing your bill.

Payslips & reports, sorted

Professional payslips and bank-transfer/cash schedules — plus a Payroll Register and a balanced GL journal entry your accountant can import into QuickBooks or Sage. Bulk-import staff from Excel.

Always on the right tax rates

When the thresholds change with the tax year, a one-click update brings the new official rates — you choose when it installs, and your data is never touched.

Manual vs Brawta

From days to minutes.

The same month-end, the old way and the Brawta way — typical for a 25–50 staff payroll.

Compliance & peace of mind

Filed right, on time — headaches cancelled.

Brawta isn't just faster. It keeps you on the right side of TAJ, with the maths off your plate.

Never miss a TAJ deadline

S01 by the 14th, S02 by 31 March. A live countdown on your dashboard keeps you ahead of it — no late fees, no interest, no last-minute scramble.

Keep your Employment Tax Credit

Filing accurately and on time is what keeps you eligible for the Employment Tax Credit (up to 30%). Brawta makes on-time, correct filing the default — so you don't forfeit it.

Matched to TAJ's own worked examples

Every figure follows TAJ's published rates and thresholds — and Brawta's engine reproduces TAJ's own published worked examples (the 2025–2028 Income Tax Threshold Advisory and the TAJ Employer's Guide) to the cent, in automated tests. The announced 2025–2028 threshold increases are built in and apply automatically on 1 April — and your S01 and S02 still reconcile before you file. See the exact rates we apply →

Challenge the maths

Think a number is wrong? Prove it.

The benchmark isn't our word — it's TAJ's own published figures. Brawta is built on TAJ's published rates and locked against TAJ's own worked examples in automated tests, so a challenge is settled against the official figures, not anyone's opinion. We'd rather you stress-test it than trust it blindly: find a real error against TAJ's published figures or the official forms and we'll fix it fast and put your name to it. This is a recognition programme, not a paid one — but a payroll engine the whole island can trust is worth your time.

What to attack

PAYE (periodic and cumulative), the NIS ceiling, NHT, Education Tax and HEART; gross-to-net edge cases; and whether the S01, S02 and P45 carry the right figures into the right boxes. Pension, statutory income, mid-year starters and leavers — break it however you can.

What you get

A confirmed, original find earns a spot in our Contributors' Hall of Fame, a written credit in the release notes that ship the fix, and — for a material maths or compliance bug — a free year or upgrade on the house. Honest recognition for honest work.

The rules (keep it fair)

Show your working: the inputs, what Brawta produced, and what TAJ's rates say it should be — with the official reference. First clear report of an issue wins it. Please report privately (below), don't test against anyone's real staff data, and give us a reasonable window to fix before going public.

Verified contributors are listed here once their find ships in an update.

Risk & protection

The things that go wrong with payroll — and won't here.

A late filing, a lost database, a salary leak. Payroll mistakes are expensive and hard to undo. Brawta is built so they simply don't happen.

Never lose your payroll data

Automatic rolling backups while you work, encrypted backup files you can take off-site, an optional encrypted off-site cloud copy (free while in beta), and a recovery screen if a computer ever fails — so a lost or stolen machine never means lost payroll history.

Staff salaries stay private (JDPA)

Everything lives on your own computer — offline-first, with employee records AES-256 encrypted on the device behind your passphrase. Nothing leaves unless you choose it: even the optional cloud backup is sealed on your machine first, so only you can ever open it — helping you meet your data-protection duties under the JDPA.

Records you can defend

Every run is locked once saved, an audit trail records the changes, and the S01↔S02 reconciliation catches a mismatch before you file — so if TAJ ever asks, your figures tie out.

File your own SO4 — or let your accountant do it.

Brawta works out your income tax, NIS, NHT and Education Tax from the figures you enter and fills the official SO4 return. Compute and preview it free; pay only when you generate the final filing.

Rather not do it yourself? Hand it to a Brawta-powered accountant — often for not much more, done properly with their sign-off. Either way, it runs on Brawta.

File my SO4 I'm an accountant

Accountants & bureaus: file SO4 returns for your clients at a low per-return rate that drops with volume — your clients are already being pointed your way. Ask about adding SO4 to your Bureau plan.

Need more headroom? A flat Capacity Booster doubles your employee limit for half the plan price — Standard to 40, Pro to 150 — so you grow without jumping plans.

Encrypted cloud backup is included free for licensed users during beta — an off-site copy only you can open. It may become a low-cost add-on later (annual, or monthly at a small premium); anyone using it in beta gets fair notice first.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked.

Is my payroll data safe? Where is it stored?

Your data lives on your own computer — by default nothing is ever sent anywhere. Set a passphrase and the app locks on every launch and encrypts every backup (AES-256), supporting your obligations under Jamaica's Data Protection Act. Automatic daily backups (last 14 kept), one-click manual backups, and a full audit trail of every change come built in. If you want an off-site safety net, you can opt in to an encrypted cloud backup — the file is sealed on your machine first, so only you can ever open it (we and the cloud provider only hold a locked file). It's off by default and free while in beta.

What happens when the tax thresholds change?

The 2025–2028 increases announced by the Minister are already built in and apply automatically on 1 April each year — so you're current through 2028 with nothing to do. Any later change ships as a one-click update. Rate sets are effective-dated, so pay runs before a change keep the old figures and runs after it use the new ones — exactly how TAJ expects.

Does it work without internet?

Yes — fully. Calculations, payslips, forms and backups all work offline. You only need a connection to download the app, fetch an update, or send payslips by email/WhatsApp.

I'm self-employed — can Brawta do my SO4 return?

Yes. Brawta works out your income tax, NIS, NHT and Education Tax from the figures you enter and fills the official SO4 Annual Return. You can compute and preview your whole return free in your browser; generating the official filing-ready PDF is a single paid filing (J$7,500), or you can have a Brawta-powered accountant file it for you. See Self-employed pricing.

What if I don't renew my licence?

Brawta keeps working and your data stays yours — the app simply returns to the free tier's limits and stops receiving new-year tax tables. Nothing is ever locked away from you.

Can my accountant use it?

Yes. There's a read-only accountant view (they can inspect everything and export reports without being able to change a figure), a full audit trail, and a balanced GL journal export that drops into QuickBooks or Sage. Bookkeepers running many clients should ask about the Bureau plan.

How do I pay / get a licence key?

Message us on WhatsApp. You pay in Jamaican dollars (bank transfer), we send your licence key, and you paste it into the app once — that's the whole setup. Keys work offline.
